About Me

I became a social worker over 40 years ago and continue to practise as an independent social worker specialising in safeguarding and abuse issues. My therapeutic approach is highly grounded. I believe that because every individual is unique, there is no single generic solution; instead, I combine my deep social care experience with advanced clinical hypnotherapy (which I have been practising for over 13 years) to find the absolute root cause of a problem and build a bespoke, effective path forward using an individual treatment plan, which is developed in the first session.

My primary area of specialism is working with children (ages 5+), young people, and adults who have experienced abuse or trauma. Through hypnosis, I help survivors gently navigate the complex journey of healing from both immediate and long-term emotional impacts.

My Approach

I integrate a variety of evidence-based methods, including Ericksonian Hypnosis, Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy, Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy, and NLP Professional Coaching. Whether you are facing debilitating anxiety, exploring past life regression, or seeking structured resilience, sessions are tailored entirely around your comfort and goals.

I practice face-to-face here at Harbour Therapy Rooms in Leeds, as well as in Sheffield, and offer online video sessions for adults. I am happy to have an initial 15-minute conversation with a person on the telephone. Then if they book an appointment, the first half hour will be for assessment purposes and free of charge, followed by an hour of therapy (at the normal fee).

Published Author & Expert Series Editor

Beyond my clinical practice, I have an intensive internet and academic presence as a leading voice in social care and hypnotherapy. I serve as the Series Editor for the Good Practice in Health, Social Care and Criminal Justice Series (Jessica Kingsley Publishers); and am also an author, who has published numerous textbooks, training manuals, and specialist script resources used by practitioners worldwide.
